Dear Diane,

I really want to feel calm more often. But how can I be calm when I’m in the middle of a stressful situation?  This lack of control is stressing me out even more!  Any suggestions?

...Stressin' Sally

Dear Sally,

One way is to create a visual touchstone, much like the proverbial string-around-a-finger.  Your touchstone could be anything:  an affirmation written on the bathroom mirror, or a wrist bracelet.  What matters most is that every time you see it, you practice Feeling Calm.  You will know it’s working the first time you think about your touchstone in a stressful situation and remember how to Feel Calm.  You may not have the answer right away, but you will be able to resolve the situation more calmly.  Have fun with this.  Soon you will be the definition of calm in any stressful situation!

I am not sure how I got here (to this site - I mean) but I am glad I found you.  I am cultivating three great kids under 6, oh, and a husband as well. I am a sustainable flower and veggie farmer who creates floral designs for weddings and events on the side. I have also grown vegetables and sold them at farmers markets’.

My dream is to start a non-profit that would bring local food to those who need it. I have big ideas but have not actualized financial success in my farming because, having owned other businesses, I do not treat it like a business. I think somewhere I fear if it is for real it may lose the joy.

And yet for me — farming, agriculture, flowers, helping others — this is where the light is for me. Part of me wants to build the farming business and grow and make money, part of me wants to keep it a lifestyle only for freedom sake. How do I decide what to do?

…Leslee

Leslee initially wrote me to set up clarity session. A clarity session is perfect for people who are, for the most part, living in alignment with their values. Living in alignment with ones personal values essentially opens the floodgates to more creative ideas and opportunities. And while this visionary ability is oh-so-fun much of the time, sometimes it can muddy the connection to Right Now.

When I wrote back to Leslee with a suggested time for us to meet, I included this sentence from her email as a possible place to start our conversation:

“Part of me wants to build a farming business and grow and make money, part of me wants to keep it a lifestyle only for freedom sake.”

When Leslee read that excerpt, the words “grow” and “freedom” jumped out at her. In an instant she Knew the best thing for her to do Right Now. It was to allow the farming to stay at its current level, set the non-profit idea on a shelf, and focus on “growing freedom” by savoring this time with her young children, the house the family is building, and different business that is calling for her attention right now.

In Plan Be Land, this falls under we can do everything we want, just not all at the same time. This doesn’t mean Leslee “will never choose to take farming to the marketplace”, only that she is “excited about her decision not to” do it right now. Leslee reported that, “timing is everything and I have such a sense of peace.”

Powerful lady eh? That was easy!! My work here was done.

Since the Law of Attraction believes that we create our life with our thoughts, then does the Law of Attraction believe in the concept of people being Psychics?

...Maryann

What a great question Maryann! In my humble opinion the Law of Attraction absolutely supports this concept. We are all born with built-in sensors that constantly give us feedback about the world both inside and outside our bodies.  What we call reality is what we believe is going on.  When we're connected with what our bodies are telling us, we have the opportunity to choose thoughts that make us feel better - or thoughts that don't.  What shows up in physical form will always validate the thoughts we have.  This means we are always right!  How perfect is that?!!!

Here is a true story that hopefully illustrates.   In 1954, Roger Bannister ran the first timed sub-four-minute mile in history.  Up until this time most people didn't think it was possible.  Roger did however, and focused all his thoughts on achieving this outcome.  He ran the four minute mile in his imagination, he talked about running the four minute mile with anyone who would listen, he probably even lessened his contact with nay sayers.

All along the way,  when he did something that felt like it was not helping him achieve this outcome, my guess is that he shifted his routine (and thoughts) until they were back into alignment with the feelings he associated with achieving his desired outcome.  He remained connected to his goal yet open to new ideas about what he had to do to achieve it.  There were probably several novel things he did (and didn't do) that went against the "accepted way" of all the other runners of his time.  In this way he attracted the both the people and opportunities that supported his desire to run a mile under four minutes.  Eventually he actually manifested this feat that could never be done!

The same could be said for any number of other human achievements once deemed "impossible" by most people such as cell phones, air planes and let's not forget that it was once widely believed that the earth was flat.  The way I see it, Psychics actually have a clearer connection than the rest of us.
