REIKI TRAINING

In June 2008 I received my Reiki Master attunement from Reiki Master Terry Jordan. As such, and with utmost humbleness and reverence, I can now teach Reiki to others.

Becoming a Reiki Master means more to me than having the ability to teach people how to practice Reiki on themselves and others (although it certainly resonates with my desire to help people feel empowered to handle wherever Life flows).

What I like best about it is it feels as if it's a Spiritual practice that will neverendedly open my my connection with Life Itself. If you can imagine (or already enjoy) a connection to a Way of Being that inspires you to practice living it all day, every day, you are right on top of what I'm trying to express here.

In practical terms, as conventional modern medicine has become more specialized, it has effectively dissected the human body into increasingly smaller parts. As a result, more and more medical practitioners and patients alike are exploring energetic healing methods to re-connect with, and attend to, all facets of Self simultaneously.

And even though science can't yet prove how or why energy modalities work, promising studies are currently underway at such prestigious institutions as National Institutes of Health. To me, it feels like everyone intuitively Knows we are much more than the sum of our "parts", and "reality" has finally come to a point where we the people are deciding to literally take matters into our own hands. As Pamela Miles states in her book Reiki: A Comprehensive Guide,

"To understand how Reiki works, we need to go beyond the scope of conventional medicine—but not beyond the scope of rationality. Rather, we need simply to allow ourselves to extend past the limits of what scientific technology is capable of measuring at this time."

Personally, I enjoy Reiki because even though it is Spiritual in nature, it is not bound by any particular belief system. If you are someone who feels there is more to our world than what meets the eye, Reiki essentially clears the way for your connection to that place.

This means it can be used within any religious denomination and can be incorporated into any medical treatment program. Ever the inclusionist, I also resonate with the aspect that anyone who wants to can learn it.

If you are new to Reiki, there are only three levels:

• Reiki 1 (Shoden),
• Reiki 2 (Okuden) and
• Reiki Master (Shinpiden)

Each level emphasizes a different facet of the Reiki system, deepens your realization of consistent, balanced feelings of well-being, and strengthens your ability to handle Life in whatever form it takes along your way.

Reiki 1 - Shoden (First Teachings)

No previous experience is necessary for Level 1. This is an enjoyable one-day course that gives you an understanding the system of Reiki and its benefits for you and those around you.

Elements that will be covered during the course:

• The Five Precepts of Reiki, integrating energy awareness into daily life.
• A brief history of Mikao Usui, the founder of Reiki.
• An explanation of the 3 levels of Reiki.
• Information about the chakra system, the foundation of energy anatomy.
• Energy sensing exercises.
• The Three Pillars of Reiki, preparing oneself to receive and share Reiki.
• An attunement connecting you to universal energy and raising your personal vibration to a higher level.
• The basic Reiki hand positions.
• A Reiki 1 Certificate and Lineage.

Although you may be wondering how we are going to get everything on this list done in a one-day class, it is important to understand that all energetic modalities are something to be experienced rather than read about. Because of this, my Reiki courses include a lot of hands-on practice.

Rest assured that after completing Shoden you will have the tools to develop a Reiki practice if you wish. For you, this may be all the Reiki training that you will ever want or need. And that's perfect. Because after you receive the attunement in Reiki 1, your connection is in place forever.
